SCOTT SHARRARD & FRIENDS celebrate the music of Grant Green at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club on Thursday, Dec 9 at 7:30 P.M. They will be presenting their project “Green is Beautiful” which is the music of jazz guitarist Grant Green. Scott Sharrard (Guitar) will perform with Brian Charette (Hammond Organ); Kenny Brooks (Sax); Craig Dreyer (Sax); and Tony Mason (Drums). Scott on Grant Green, “The first time I ever heard of Grant Green was from Stevie Ray Vaughn. He mentioned Grant’s “Alive” album in a Musician magazine interview. Unfortunately, in the early 1990’s that album was out of print and not yet reissued on CD. At the age of 15 I took to the used record bins, and after a few dusty months of searching I found a sleeve with “Alive” scribbled on it. I ran home to put it on. It did not disappoint. Grant was a laser of soul, attitude and groove. He never played a false note and he always makes the listener stand at attention. True instrumental storytelling with an infectious beat.”
