Mr. Dynamite, aka The Godfather of Soul James Brown recorded his “Live At The Apollo” album on this day in 1962. Brown paid for the album at his own expense because at the time, his record label did not believe an album with no new songs would be a seller. Much to their surprise, it was such a hit that record stores had a hard time keeping inventory on their shelves. Brown went on to record several more albums at The Apollo throughout his long and storied career.
