SUMMARY:Charles Lloyd Sky Quartet: Jason Moran\, Larry Grenadier & Kweku Sumbry
DESCRIPTION:Charles Lloyd\, a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master (2015) and honorary doctorate recipient from Berklee College of Music\, is widely regarded as playing at the height of his expressive powers. The depth of his sound reflects a lifetime in music\, guided by a forward-looking approach he describes simply as “Go forward.” Born in Memphis\, Tennessee\, Lloyd was shaped by a rich musical heritage and early influences including Charlie Parker\, Billie Holiday\, and Duke Ellington. He emerged as a leading voice in modern jazz\, from his work with Chico Hamilton and Cannonball Adderley to his own groundbreaking quartet. His recordings and performances are noted for clarity\, restraint\, and emotional depth. As Peter Watrous of The New York Times wrote\, he has created “a strange and beautiful distillation of the American experience\, part abandoned and wild\, part immensely controlled and sophisticated.”

SUMMARY:Charlie Musselwhite & GA-20: Together Onstage!
DESCRIPTION:Blues Now brings together harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite and acclaimed trio GA-20 for a collaboration rooted in tradition and forward momentum. A Grammy Award-winning artist with a career spanning more than 60 years\, Musselwhite remains a defining voice of Chicago blues. GA-20\, formed in 2018\, has quickly built a national reputation with multiple Billboard Blues chart-topping releases and a raw\, high-energy approach grounded in classic electric blues. Their album Blues Now (New West Records) captures the group’s live\, in-the-room chemistry\, blending original material and reimagined classics. “We’re not making a pop record. This is Blues\,” says guitarist Matthew Stubbs. Musselwhite adds\, “I’m always open for keeping things interesting.” Balancing grit\, groove\, and improvisation\, the project reflects a shared lineage and a contemporary edge-an intergenerational exchange that keeps the blues immediate\, vital\, and firmly rooted in the present.
