SUE FOLEY’s most recent album Pinky’s Blues (2022) is named after Sue Foley’s pink paisley Fender Telecaster electric guitar that has been such a major part of Foley’s life for all these years. Part of that is the total devotion Sue Foley has to the guitar, especially to the one she calls Pinky that has been with her for decades and continues to play on this album. Foley feels it’s almost a living extension of who she is and helps guide her through the rambunctiously deep renditions of everything she performs.
Foley’s first album release, Young Girl Blues (1992), quickly rooted her unique talents as a proficient blues guitarist, inspired songwriter and captivating vocalist. Since then, Foley has released 16 acclaimed albums and toured steadily with her band, toting her signature pink paisley Fender Telecaster. Foley has worked and shared the stage with music greats such as BB King, Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Jimmie Vaughan.
Sue Foley spent her early childhood in Canada, mesmerized by her father’s guitar and started her professional career at sixteen. By 21, Foley was living in Austin, Texas and recording for Antone’s—the esteemed blues label and historic nightclub that helped launch the career of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
