Pianist and organist John ?Papa? Gros has spent over three decades sharing the vibrant sounds of New Orleans with the world. ?Sharing New Orleans with the world is my calling,? he says. Gros blends funk, traditional jazz, brass band, and blues into his signature musical gumbo, bringing the city?s celebratory culture to audiences globally. A graduate of Loyola University with a degree in French Horn, Gros began performing at fifteen and quickly became a sought-after sideman, supporting New Orleans legends such as George Porter Jr. and Snooks Eaglin. Between 2000 and 2013, he led Papa Grows Funk, releasing six critically acclaimed albums and touring internationally.
