Benny Green (Rare Solo Performance)

“He plays funky and hard, and breathes not only be-bop but Oscar Peterson’s virtuosic effusions as well,” says the NEW YORK TIMES.

GRAMMY® Award Nominated Jazz Pianist BENNY GREEN moved to New York City to join legendary vocalist Betty Carters band and never looked back. He would then assume the piano chair with some of jazz music's most important instrumental groups, including Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Freddie Hubbard, and the Ray Brown Trio. With these artists he would receive an invaluable artistic education, learn to embody the art form & master the music. In 1988, Green released his debut album as a leader "Prelude", which featured Terrence Blanchard. In 1990, he signed with Blue Note Records, for which he made 7 recordings. These records featured some of the best musicians working in the idiom including Ron Carter, Christian McBride, and many others. Green has made 20+ albums on his own since 1988, while performing on countless albums of jazz greats, including Oscar Peterson, John Pizzarelli and Diana Krall. " A conservationist of the bebop idiom, and a joyful guardian of its lexicon," states NPR.
