  • Donna the Buffalo

    Donna the Buffalo is more than a band, it's a lifestyle. Since 1989, the roots-rock group has performed thousands of shows and major festivals, including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Austin City Limits, MerleFest, and Telluride. They've shared the stage with The Dead, Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Jim Lauderdale, Rusted Root, and Railroad Earth. In 1991, the band launched the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY, originally an AIDS benefit, which now draws over 15,000 attendees annually and continues to support arts and education. Their festival legacy has expanded to the Shakori Hills Festival in North Carolina and the Virginia Key Festival in Florida. In 2016, they introduced GrassRoots Culture Camp, offering four days of music, art, dance, and movement workshops with nightly performances. Donna the Buffalo's music and community spirit continue to inspire and engage fans across generations.

In response to her timeless reimagining of the beloved Carpenter's classic, Richard Carpenter said "I've been waiting fifty-five years for a fresh take on what I consider to be one of my better songs, and Ms. Cole knocks it out of the park." Last year, the "powerhouse rivaling Judy Garland and Rosemary Clooney" (People) released her holiday EP Snow! featuring a duet on the title track from the classic White Christmas with Tony Award-winner Darren Criss.     Warren Wolf is a versatile Baltimore-based musician with over 20 years of experience as a vibraphonist, drummer, and composer. He began his musical journey at age three, studying under his father and later attending the prestigious Peabody Preparatory. After high school at the Baltimore School for the Arts, he studied at Berklee College of Music under renowned vibraphonist Dave Samuels. Wolf has collaborated with notable artists like Christian McBride and Karriem Riggins and has led several recordings, including the R&B-infused Reincarnation and the breezy Convergence. He became an instructor at Berklee in 2003, teaching vibraphone, drums, and beginners' keyboard classes, while remaining active in Boston's jazz scene.     Wake Up Mama, a tribute to the Allman Brothers Band, founded in 2022 in Portland, Maine by diehard Allman Brothers fans, hungry to perform their iconic songs. Quickly gaining popularity, the band has regularly sold-out numerous venues, including Portland House of Music and Vinegar Hill Music theatre as well as drawing thousand to various festivals. This all-star band includes: Max Sullivan, Slide Guitar and Vocals, Tom Douglas, Guitar and Vocals, Jeff Glidden, Drums, Kellen Hughey, Bass, Marc Kaplan, Percussion, Kevin Roper, Keys and Vocals, Chris Dow, Drums, Charlie Bonnin, Vocals. The band performs many of the iconic Allman Brothers songs including Whipping Post, Jessica, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Revival and many more. Wake Up Mama is honored to be making their Portsmouth debut and Jimmy?s Jazz and Blues.

  • Maurice “Mobetta” Brown

    Trumpet sensation Maurice MOBETTA Brown orbits simultaneously through three worlds: contemporary jazz, blues-rock and cutting-edge hip hop. He's a mastermind as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and producer. When Maurice picks up his horn, his soulful melodies soar into a rarefied space that uniquely marries be-bop to hip-hop and rock, producing his own distinctive sound. The Chicago area native won the national Miles Davis Trumpet Competition as a teenager, followed by a move to Louisiana to study under legendary clarinetist Alvin Batiste. His critically acclaimed debut, "HIP TO BOP", recorded in New Orleans, foreshadowed Brown's unique talent for creating fresh bop-inflected jazz with an urban pulse. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina's devastation forced Maurice to relocate, taking his horn to New York where he established himself by recording with Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, De La Soul, Macy Gray, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Lettuce and The Roots.

Featured performers include blues legend Toni Lynn Washington, 2x-Blues Music Award-nominated guitarist Peter Parcek (Pinetop Perkins), singer-songwriter Danielle Miraglia, and Blues Music Awards nominee Diane Blue (Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters).     Embodying the vibrant Chicago music culture, LowDown Brass Band is a one-of-a-kind horn ensemble weaving the rhythm of the streets with conscious hip hop, reggae, and soul. Rigorously touring, LowDown has performed on the most unique stages, from the Montreal Jazz Fest to the Cotai Jazz Fest. Despite the last four years, LowDown has stayed busy, releasing Three albums, "The Reel Sessions, LowDown Nights and $itizens of the World', which showcase their unique sound and further push the boundaries of their genre. Leaning on their talent and unconventional style, LowDown Brass Band continues to carve out a path, defying convention and charting their own course in the ever-evolving landscape of music.

  • Local Artist Series: The Tony Mack Band

    For over 10 years this seven-piece Classic Rock/R&B Band has rocked the NH, ME & MA seacoast playing some of the Deep Tracks you don't usually hear bands play, but love. Founded in 2012 by Tony Blockis on guitar whose roots in the NY music scene, played in numerous bands in the 70's and 80's throughout the tri-state area. In addition, as a recording studio owner, engineer, and producer he has worked with artists like Tommy Shaw (Styx Band), Richie Cannata (Billy Joel Band) along with Atlantic Records.     Jazz saxophonist Jacob Chung moved from Toronto to New York City in 2022 to study with Vincent Herring, whose early advocacy led to a record deal for Jacob's sophomore album The Sage (2024) on Cellar Music Group. Featuring Herring and drummer Joe Farnsworth, The Sage was named one of the best Canadian jazz releases of 2024 (Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen). When the LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began to write new music, she found herself in the midst of one of the biggest life changes a person will ever experience: motherhood. The resulting music is her truest and most blues-infused to date. Freed from the pop pressures of her previous major label, ZZ is able to fully embrace the blues, her most formative influence. Her Sun Records debut, Liberation, features a program of originals and re-imagined blues favorites done in ZZ's singular way. Encompassing greasy Chicago blues, foot-stomping Delta blues, rootsy garage rock, and vintage soul, the album is almost a ZZ-curated survey of the blues.   • Charlie Hunter Trio

    Charlie Hunter is a guitarist, producer, and composer known for his groundbreaking approach to hybrid guitar. He first gained recognition for his custom eight-string technique, allowing him to play bass lines, chords, and melodies simultaneously. Today, he performs on 6- and 7-string instruments built by Hybrid Guitars Co., the fanned-fret guitar company he co-founded in 2015 with Clay Conner and Wes Lambe. Throughout his thirty-five-year career, Hunter has developed a sound that blends jazz, funk, blues, and rock with effortless groove and improvisational depth. He has released numerous albums, toured internationally, and collaborated widely, including the acclaimed project SuperBlue with Kurt Elling. Recent highlights include work with Victoria Victoria, Butcher Brown, Jubu Smith, Sam Fribush, and Candice Ivory, as well as a Tiny Desk appearance with Carrtoons, Kiefer, and Nate Smith. Hunter also leads SideHustle Records and continues his deep study of Blind Blake's music on Patreon.
