August 24th: Today In Music History

by Box Office | Aug 24, 2020 | Today in Music History | 0 comments

Here’s a special Jimmy’s birthday salute to a fellow Jimmy — James Kent “Jim” Fox, founder of The James Gang, was born in Cleveland on this day in 1947. Here’s The Gang doing “Walk Away” on “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert” in 1974.

We visited Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club for an office party and had a great experience. The space itself is beautiful and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of different areas that allow for both lively energy and quieter conversation. It made it easy for our group to mingle, relax, and actually enjoy talking without feeling crowded or overwhelmed. We truly enjoyed our time and would absolutely recommend it for group events or a night out.

This is one of the class music establishments of New Hampshire. The quality of the sound of the setup, of the people, of the atmosphere and ambiance the deeply personable service. There is not one show I would not go see at this place given the opportunity.

As the venue's purpose remains music, Jimmy's produces some of the best acts in the business. The facility's acoustics, atmosphere, and attention to detail make it one of the best venues in all of New England. The wait staff quietly and unobtrusively serve throughout a show, tactfully attending to their table's needs. The one major drawback of Jimmy's in our 5 visits remains the food; our expensive shrimp cocktail was mealy, soft, and room temperature. Our friends ate dinner (sadly, don't remember what they ordered) and were very disappointed--told us never to plan to eat there. At our most recent shows, we only had drinks--all cold, served quickly, and the options are solid. Perhaps we'll give the food another try at some point--I'll keep an eye on the reviews to see if they've upped their game. That said, superb music every time in a great facility--we'll keep coming back for sure!

This is our 5th time at the club. Every time we were treated to a level of performance beyond expectation. Last night we saw Elew and wow what a talented pianist. It felt like he took us on a personal journey with him on each song. Folks at are table said it well " all this and so close to home" (NH) . We thank Jimmys for providing such a venue to draw in such talent.
