Trumpet virtuoso Maurice “Mobetta” Brown blends contemporary jazz, blues-rock, and hip-hop, merging bebop with urban influences. A Chicago native, Brown won the Miles Davis Trumpet Competition as a teen and later studied under Alvin Batiste in Louisiana. His debut album Hip to Bop set the stage for his fusion of jazz and urban sounds. After Hurricane Katrina, Brown moved to New York, collaborating with icons like Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, and The Roots. His album The Cycle of Love earned accolades from NPR and Huffington Post. A Grammy winner with Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Brown’s solo work includes Maurice vs. Mobetta and The Mood. Known for his collaborations with Anderson .Paak, Kamasi Washington, and Logic, Brown?s distinctive trumpet sound has become a genre-defying force. This year, he celebrates his annual birthday bash, continuing to evolve his unique musical legacy with fans and fellow artists alike.
