Ever feel like you’re walking a “Tightrope” or caught up in some sort of “Crossfire”? Stevie Ray Vaughan sure did. Here he rips out both hits for a 1989 TV special, a year before his death in that tragic helicopter crash in Wisconsin. Born in Dallas, Texas, on this day in 1954, he took up guitar at age 7, inspired by his older brother Jimmie Vaughan (watch them shred the same guitar together in this clip!). Upon his induction in 2015, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame called him, simply, “the second coming of the blues.”
