Some people call him the “Space Cowboy,” others call him the gangsta of love. Born in Milwaukee on this day in 1943 and raised in Texas, it wasn’t long before blues rock superstar Steve Miller was flying all over the place in a big ole “Jet Airliner” playing music for his millions of fans. “I was born into a musical family. As a child in Texas, I was taken to a lot of nightclubs,” he says in an interview in which he talks about being around T-Bone Walker and Les Paul (his godfather) as a kid. Fun fact: As a grownup, Mr. Miller has also been teaming up with Jazz at Lincoln Center.
