  • Local Artist Series: Wake Up Mama – An Allman Brothers Tribute

    Wake Up Mama, a tribute to the Allman Brothers Band, founded in 2022 in Portland, Maine by diehard Allman Brothers fans, hungry to perform their iconic songs. Quickly gaining popularity, the band has regularly sold-out numerous venues, including Portland House of Music and Vinegar Hill Music theatre as well as drawing thousand to various festivals. This all-star band includes: Max Sullivan, Slide Guitar and Vocals, Tom Douglas, Guitar and Vocals, Jeff Glidden, Drums, Kellen Hughey, Bass, Marc Kaplan, Percussion, Kevin Roper, Keys and Vocals, Chris Dow, Drums, Charlie Bonnin, Vocals. The band performs many of the iconic Allman Brothers songs including Whipping Post, Jessica, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Revival and many more. Wake Up Mama is honored to be making their Portsmouth debut and Jimmy?s Jazz and Blues.

  • Maurice “Mobetta” Brown

    Trumpet sensation Maurice MOBETTA Brown orbits simultaneously through three worlds: contemporary jazz, blues-rock and cutting-edge hip hop. He's a mastermind as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and producer. When Maurice picks up his horn, his soulful melodies soar into a rarefied space that uniquely marries be-bop to hip-hop and rock, producing his own distinctive sound. The Chicago area native won the national Miles Davis Trumpet Competition as a teenager, followed by a move to Louisiana to study under legendary clarinetist Alvin Batiste. His critically acclaimed debut, "HIP TO BOP", recorded in New Orleans, foreshadowed Brown's unique talent for creating fresh bop-inflected jazz with an urban pulse. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina's devastation forced Maurice to relocate, taking his horn to New York where he established himself by recording with Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, De La Soul, Macy Gray, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Lettuce and The Roots.

    For over 10 years this seven-piece Classic Rock/R&B Band has rocked the NH, ME & MA seacoast playing some of the Deep Tracks you don't usually hear bands play, but love. Founded in 2012 by Tony Blockis on guitar whose roots in the NY music scene, played in numerous bands in the 70's and 80's throughout the tri-state area. In addition, as a recording studio owner, engineer, and producer he has worked with artists like Tommy Shaw (Styx Band), Richie Cannata (Billy Joel Band) along with Atlantic Records. Musical influences include Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Larry Carlton, Santana, Joe Walsh, and David Gilmour, just to name a few. The legendary Tim O'Brien is one of the most beloved and influential singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists in American acoustic music and the impact that his songs and musicianship have had on our tribe of acousticians is immeasurable. When I was a Junior in high school if you would have asked me what my dream job would be, without a doubt I would have answered "to be in the Tim O'Brien Band." It is a great honor to get to play some of my favorite Tim tunes with the man himself, and to get to do it in a trio setting with the great Victor Furtado, one of my favorite pickin' pals who also grew up on Tim's music, is going to make for a special experience for everyone on stage and in the audience!

    Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer, and producer Bill Laurance is internationally acclaimed for his genre-defying blend of jazz, classical, and electronic music. A founding member of Snarky Puppy, he has earned five Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Empire Central, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, Culcha Vulcha, and Sylva, as well as Best R&B Performance for the band's collaboration with Lalah Hathaway. Laurance's versatility has made him a sought-after collaborator across film, television, and dance. His work has appeared in campaigns for Apple and Sky, and in films including Un Traductor and Initials S.G., for which he composed original themes. He also collaborated closely with David Crosby, including on the documentary Remember My Name. His compositions have been performed by major ensembles such as the WDR Big Band Cologne and Metropole Orkest. Recent releases: Keeping Company (with Michael League, 2024) and his 12th solo album Lumen (2025)

Founded by brothers Phil and Keith Frazier, the group began playing on the streets of the French Quarter before becoming fixtures at second lines and eventually global ambassadors of New Orleans music. Their legendary Tuesday residency at the Maple Leaf and collaborations with artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Grateful Dead, and Trombone Shorty have cemented Rebirth as one of the most dynamic live bands in the world.

    Eliza Neals is an award-winning musician, pianist, producer, and bandleader whose powerhouse vocals and fiery stage presence are redefining modern blues-rock. A Wayne University graduate with a BA in opera and protégé of Motown legend Barrett Strong Jr. (I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Papa Was a Rolling Stone), Eliza fuses blues, rock, and soul into unforgettable songs heard daily on SiriusXM's B.B. King's Bluesville. Praised by icons like Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Joe Louis Walker, and Walter Trout, she's been invited four times to the Mustique Blues Festival, where Mick Jagger called her "a voice I soon won't forget." Artists from Christopher Cross to Sade and everything in between. Composed of veteran players from the New England scene, Corduroy is the perfect fit for your upscale entertainment needs.

  • Jacob Chung Quartet

    Jazz saxophonist Jacob Chung moved from Toronto to New York City in 2022 to study with Vincent Herring, whose early advocacy led to a record deal for Jacob's sophomore album The Sage (2024) on Cellar Music Group. Featuring Herring and drummer Joe Farnsworth, The Sage was named one of the best Canadian jazz releases of 2024 (Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen). In 2025, Jacob released Live at Frankie's Jazz Club, recorded with the Tyler Henderson Trio. In 2024, Jacob continued his studies with Grant Stewart at the Tribeca Jazz Institute and connected with mentors such as Chris Byars, Eric Alexander, Ari Roland, and Ken Peplowski--relationships that helped launch his growing NYC performance career. He now appears regularly at The Django, Smalls, Mezzrow, Dizzy's Club, and more, while performing with groups led by Rodney Green, Erena Terakubo, James Sarno, and others. A rising voice in modern jazz, Jacob tours actively across the U.S. and Canada.

    Gabe Dixon is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist celebrated for his honest, heartfelt songs.     The Fabulous Thunderbirds are a cornerstone of contemporary blues and blues rock, known for classic albums like T-Bird Rhythm and the platinum-selling Tuff Enuff, which featured hits like the title track and 'Wrap It Up.' Led by founding member Kim Wilson, the band has earned seven Grammy nominations and more than twenty Blues Music Award nominations. Formed in 1974, the band marks its 50th anniversary with Struck Down, their first new studio album in eight years. The album features nine original songs co-written by Kim Wilson and Hamilton bluesman Steve Strongman, plus a powerful cover of Memphis Minnie's 'Nothing in Rambling.' Produced by Wilson, Strongman, and Glen Parrish, and mixed by Shelly Yakus, Struck Down includes guest appearances from Billy Gibbons, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Keb' Mo', Mick Fleetwood, Terrance Simien, and Elvin Bishop.     One of the most profound lessons ZZ Ward learned from growing up listening to the blues greats was to be authentic to your story. When the LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began to write new music, she found herself in the midst of one of the biggest life changes a person will ever experience: motherhood. The resulting music is her truest and most blues-infused to date. Freed from the pop pressures of her previous major label, ZZ is able to fully embrace the blues, her most formative influence. Her Sun Records debut, Liberation, features a program of originals and re-imagined blues favorites done in ZZ's singular way. Encompassing greasy Chicago blues, foot-stomping Delta blues, rootsy garage rock, and vintage soul, the album is almost a ZZ-curated survey of the blues.     Charlie Hunter is a guitarist, producer, and composer known for his groundbreaking approach to hybrid guitar. He first gained recognition for his custom eight-string technique, allowing him to play bass lines, chords, and melodies simultaneously. Today, he performs on 6- and 7-string instruments built by Hybrid Guitars Co., the fanned-fret guitar company he co-founded in 2015 with Clay Conner and Wes Lambe. Throughout his thirty-five-year career, Hunter has developed a sound that blends jazz, funk, blues, and rock with effortless groove and improvisational depth. He has released numerous albums, toured internationally, and collaborated widely, including the acclaimed project SuperBlue with Kurt Elling. Recent highlights include work with Victoria Victoria, Butcher Brown, Jubu Smith, Sam Fribush, and Candice Ivory, as well as a Tiny Desk appearance with Carrtoons, Kiefer, and Nate Smith. Hunter also leads SideHustle Records and continues his deep study of Blind Blake's music on Patreon.
